Tsakli or tsakali are miniature paintings in the Tibetan tradition on card or cloth. Sets of tsakli are sed in evocation rites to initiate novices, and also in the performance of certain rituals such as those associated with the Bardo, or After Death Realms.
The Precious General of the Chakravartin - the righteous universal monarch who rules purely through compassion and wisdom. The birth of a Chakravrtin heralds the onset of seven abundances in the world - faith, morality, honesty, modesty, learning, renunciation and wisdom abound in his era. His General fights for truth and justice, (never harming other beings) and to bring about the righteousness of dharma which will usher in the age of the Chakravartin. Here the general stands upon a tiger skin wearing his armour and holding the sword with which he defends the dharma. The richness of the paint colours is protected by shellac a natural varnish made from the lac beetle.
