Please look at the photos of the Borovo Vase or Borovo Amphora - 4thc BC - and tell me WHERE women wore clothing like that of Ariadne on this beautiful artifact. It is not a Greek chiton. The diaphonous skirt - quite distinct from the top - is the same as that worn by Dionysos. These skirts are diaphanous and decorated with the triple-dot motif - also seen on the clothing of the Maenads on this vase. However, the top looks like a fitted jacket richly decorated with gold embroidery or passmenterie. If the date were not known, this jacket could be medieval - or later! I have asked many academics - no one has been able to answer this question. The Borovo amphora was probably made in the Odryssian Kingdom, on the Black Sea, so - Persian influence? Or Scythian, maybe?
